Do you need support for IP HW under Linux?

Hi,
It's been mentioned to me by a few vision researchers that they are
beginning to adopt the Linux operating system for their work. To my
knowledge there iscurrently no support under Linux as-is for image
capture, or image processing hardware. As a image processing
researcher in a previous existence I personally would have preferred
to have unix on my PC with a framegrabber, but I was wondering whether
there was any real interest in the Machine Vision community. I
currently work for an imaging company, Data Cell Ltd in the UK, and am
merely testing the water to see whether generating such support would
be worthwhile.
Could anyone currently using Linux give me their opinions,
Many thanks,
Kevin Richards
