Diagram recognition algorithms

Hello,

I am looking for algorithms that can recognize structures in diagrams,
and make a semantical representation of these diagrams. The diagrams
are represented in a vector format, e.g., as lines, circles, arcs by
means of coordinates. I am aware that this is not closely related to
mainstream Computer Vision applications, but I wonder whether some of
the algorithms used here can be applied to my problem. If any body
knows any literature about this, please let me know.
