The successful candidate will join the Centre for Vision, Speech and
Signal Processing. He/she will have previous research experience and
publication track record in multimedia signal processing in general
and in image coding in particular. The lecturer should be able to
contribute to teaching foundation modules in electronic and electrical
engineering in Year 1 and Year 2 of the undergraduate BEng degree
courses offered by the School. The ability to teach in the computer
engineering area will be an advantage. At the BEng final year and MSc
levels he/she will be teaching in the specialist research area of
multimedia signal processing. Specifically, there is an immediate need
to take over an MSc course on Image Coding. On the research front, the
appointee will be expected to contribute to existing EPSRC and ACTS
Projects in Image Coding, to PhD student supervision in the Multimedia
Signal Processing Area, and will be expected to build up his/her own
portfolio of research grants during the probation period. Candidates
should have a first and higher research degree in Electrical
Engineering/Computer Science or related discipline and have a research
record in the specified areas.
Salary will be in the range 15,154 - 26,430 pounds per annum (pay award
pending) according to age, qualifications and experience.
