The purpose of this one-day, single-track workshop, is to facilitate
information exchange and critical discussion directed at advancing the
frontiers of document image analysis.

Specific topics of interest include:
* Document image segmentation
* Layout analysis
* Map, graphics, and drawing interpretation
* Character recognition
* Hand print/writing recognition
* Document image indexing, storage, and retrieval
* Document image processing

Since the workshop is being held in conjunction with CVPR'97, papers
dealing with techniques that have been used in more traditional
computer vision problems are especially welcome, as they would help
bridge the gap between the computer vision community and the document
image analysis community. However, high quality contributions on any
aspect of document image analysis will be carefully considered.

The workshop will be held on June 20, the day after CVPR'97. Hotel
rates for CVPR'97 have been extended. Contributions submitted will be
reviewed by the program committee. Submissions should be in the form
of extended abstracts (about 2 pages). The extended abstracts of
accepted papers will be compiled into a booklet that will be available
at the workshop. Proceedings will be ready shortly after the
workshop.

The first page of the extended abstract should include: (1) paper
title, (2) authors, (3) contact author's name, address, phone number,
fax number, and e-mail address (4) very short (three to four
sentences) abstract. FIVE copies of the extended manuscript should be
received no later than:
