The Institute of Flexible Automation (INFA)
at the Vienna Technical University has an opening
RESEARCH ASSISTANT POSITION in the area of
Machine Vision and Robotics
The ideal candidate finished studies at an Electrical Engineering
Department, obtained at least basic training in machine vision and
programming, and enjoys to devise creative solutions for advanced
technical problems, possibly leading to a doctorate.
INFA co-operates with renown institutions all over the world. Academic
as well as industrial partners offer a wide spectrum of contacts to
solve exciting fundamental and applications oriented problems. These
contacts also provide the ideal basis for continuing the carrier at one
of our partner companies, such as Rockwell, Festo, ABB, Bosch, Reis,
Portech, OSS, to name a few.
The institute initiated and co-ordinates the Esprit project RobVision.
The research work will be related to this project and tries to
investigate new techniques that can be used for such applications. The

In detail, the work will be concerned with the improvement of methods to
recognise and track objects to control the motion of robots. The long
term goal is to provide techniques to grasp objects of daily life with a
robotic system. The vision work is seen is a fundamental need for future
