The Departments of Bioengineering, Academic Neuroscience and Computing
at Imperial College, London have openings for three jointly appointed
post-doctoral researchers funded under the Basic Technology Programme,
"Reverse Engineering Human Visual Processes", commencing in October,
2002. We are seeking highly motivated candidates who hold PhD's in the
areas of mathematics, biological vision, signal/image processing or
computer science to join a diverse team of researchers studying computer
vision algorithms and human vision. The aim of the project is to develop
new paradigms for building artificial vision systems by studying
biological visual processes. The specific areas of research will be
multiscale filtering, visual search strategies, and the computational
modelling of visual processes. The appointees will take a lead role in
promoting interaction between these research fields, and will
consequently have the opportunity to broaden their scientific horizons.
From the second year of the project, opportunities may also exist in the
area of circuit design for embedded vision chips. Further details (and
application forms) are available from the website
