POSITION: Post-doctoral fellow on
"Adaptable, Low Calibration Robot Vision"
School of Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon Univ
Pittsburgh, PA 15213-3891
email: brettb@cs.cmu.edu
We invite applications for a postdoctoral fellow position of one year,
renewable for up to two years, in the Computer Science Department or in
the Robotics Institute (to be decided) within the CORAL research lab,
http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~coral
The research will focus on developing fast vision algorithms for object
recognition to enable a robot to operate in highly dynamic environments
with variable illumination. The developed algorithms will need to be
based on learning techniques that make them robust, require zero or
automated calibration, and be very efficient in terms of computational
load. The work will mainly focus on the new Segway RMP platforms (see
http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~robosoccer/segway
), but should apply to other
robot platforms.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Computer Science,
Robotics, or Engineering. Experience in real-time vision for robot
platforms as well as artificial intelligence, such as learning and
planning will be preferred. Experience with autonomous robots operating
in dynamic and/or multi-robot environments will also be preferred.
TO APPLY: Applicants should send by mailto:brettb@cs.cmu.edu
- a curriculum vitae
- names of two references with contact information
- a two-page summary of past research and relevant qualifications
- a personal Web page, if available, where further details can be found
This position is to start in September 2004 or at any agreed date.
