The European Conference in Computer Vision is the premium conference in
the domain of computer vision held every two years with approx 750-1000
participants. This year it is scheduled to take place at Marseille
between October 12-18, 2008. Short courses and tutorials will take place
on October 12, 2008, at the same venue as ECCV, the Palais des Congrès
Parc Chanot.

Short courses and tutorials are usually half-day with the option of full
day courses for wider scope topics. They aim to address a specific topic
in computer vision and are supposed to provide a comprehensive overview
of the topic. The audience is mostly graduate students. The topic should
be of sufficient relevance with respect to the state of the art and the
course should rather be educating than just a survey of techniques.

The proposal should include:
1. Title
2. Proposer's name, address, email, and short bio-sketch
3. A course description in syllabus like form
4. Names of other lecturers and short bio-sketches
5. Relevant publications of the proposer(s) with respect to the topic
6. Length of course (half day/full day) & estimated attendance
7. Whether PDF slides will be available for inclusion in the CDROM
8. Whether there will be a web page about the short course including slides.

Proposals should be submitted in text form by email to the organizers,
Professors Nikos Paragios ( mailto:nikos.paragios@ecp.fr ) and
Dr. Emmanuel Prados ( mailto:Emmanuel.Prados@inrialpes.fr ),
before May 15, 2008.

Review process:
Tutorial proposals will be evaluated on the basis of their estimated
benefit for our community and on their fit within the tutorials program
as a whole. Factors to be considered include: relevance, timeliness,
importance, and audience appeal; suitability for presentation in a
half-day or day format; and past experience and qualifications of the
instructors. Selection is also based on the overall distribution of
topics, expected attendance, and specialties of the intended audiences.
